Since The JUSTICE Conference was birthed in 2010, we have had the opportunity to gather with thousands of individuals around the world who share a concern for the vulnerable and oppressed. We have learned from each other, made changes in our communities, and most importantly—become better reconcilers, restorers, and redeemers in Christ. We are determined to keep chasing justice, together. Will you join us?
Since The Justice Conference was birthed in 2010, we have had the opportunity to gather with thousands of individuals around the world who share a concern for the vulnerable and oppressed. We have learned from each other, made changes in our communities, and most importantly—continue to seek to become better reconcilers, restorers, and redeemers in Christ.
The driving force being The Justice Conference has always been a theology of justice, the belief that an understanding of God should compel love for others and engagement in social justice issues. Our core belief is that God created the world and everything in it and it was good. He created humankind to be stewards of all of creation and seek its flourishing. Despite sin entering the world and the subsequent brokenness, we believe it is still the call and responsibility of every follower of Jesus to join with Him in the ministry of reconciliation and restoration. That wherever there is brokenness, oppression, marginalization or de-humanization, we must seek to bring justice, to make things right.
Founded in 2010 by a group of like-minded friends in Bend, Oregon (USA), with a dream of impacting a generation for justice, the influence of The Justice Conference continues to grow, with gatherings hosted in: Chicago (USA), Hong Kong (China), Melbourne (Australia), Auckland (New Zealand), Amsterdam (The Netherlands), and Cape Town (South Africa). We are now one of the largest Biblical and Social Justice Conferences, bringing together world-class speakers and artists into gatherings designed to catalyze followers of Jesus around the world toward an understanding of the centrality of justice to the gospel.
Now, more than ever, people of faith need to come together to wrestle with the injustice in our world. The Justice Conference provides an annual space to do this, encouraging thousands of Christ-followers to live out the message of Jesus and transform their communities by making justice a way of life. Our call is to engage many of the burning issues of our time, including poverty, racial reconciliation and systemic injustice, as well as having necessary conversations around a consistent ethic of life. We see engagement in these issues not as optional for Christ’s followers but rather as essential to understanding how to follow Jesus in bringing about the flourishing of every person and all of creation.
In August 2014, Mark and Vickie Reddy accepted the invitation from World Relief to take on leadership of The Justice Conference, and have led the past 3 conferences in Chicago. We believe we are at a crucial crossroad in church history, and christians need to make a decision as to whether they will choose to take up their cross and step outside of fear and discomfort and the need for power.
We see the role of The Justice Conference as one of peacemaking and bridge building. We believe in challenging, but that challenge should also seek to bring healing and reconciliation. We believe The Justice Conference can and must operate with both a prophetic and pastoral voice, navigating the wedges that currently divide us in a way that will ultimately bring us closer to the path Jesus calls us to and to one another.
